A young mother rescued from Salina Street. At the time of her motherhood, Bessie was under one year. |
Bessie's story:Only one of the kitten born in summer 2008 survived. That kitten was rehomed with an employee of the Providence Petco. Bessie herself is now spayed. |

| Big Mama | |
| ready to blow! enjoying her last kids |
Big Mama is progenitor of half the "700 colony" on Charles Street and many other local cats. She is documented by one neighbor to have had three litters in 2007. Another neighbor claims Big Mama has been surviving on her own as the Alpha female of the neighborhood since around 2004. |
| She had two litters in 2008. The
February litter was born outside and saw only one survivor, who
had ended up in my possession before Big Mama did. This is Skids and Mama, July 2008, with their well-camouflaged black friend, Snowball. |

Mama with her last litter, born 6 June 2008.
Mama was fixed the following September and is still in my
possession. Her baby making days are over, but residents of the North End know that Mama was part of a long legacy to which she GREATLY contributed. |
| Two brothers of Mama's legacy live together with a tenant on the north end. They were two from the last litter pictured above, named Splotch and Clive. |
Splotch says, "Clive, you got that backwards." |
| Clive responds, "Is this better?" |
"No, let me show you" |
| Mama's son Sasquatch likes to party |
Sasquatch does not always party alone |
| Two years after the last litter, Big Mama is quite content in her forever home. |
| Others coming soon | |
